Innovative Learning For Life

Check back often as Harbour Way events are scheduled throughout the year.

2012-2013

Harbour Way Social Skills Coaching Classes

Social skills coaching clases are offered at both The Harbour School at Annapolis and at Baltimore (Owings Mills). These classes focus on making and keeping friends and managing social situations. Coaching groups are available for participants ages 8 to 16 and are a great way to practice social skills in a a safe, nuturing environment. This program is designed to assist participants with developing the skills they need to be successful untilizing a "coaching" approach. Just like learning a sport, social skills coaching allows students to practice the smaller skills need to be successful as each participant becomes linked into the more complex "social game". Classes will be held in both Annapolis and Baltimore.

Harbour Way Sibling Support Group

Siblings of children with special needs often have special needs themselves; their sister or brother with special needs will get a bigger share of the attention. The Sibling Support Group will give siblings a chance to talk about the positive aspects of living with a sibling with a disability. The support group will also provide a safe and supportive environment in which to talk about the difficult feelings that may be experienced by a sibling of a child with a disability. Problem solving and self-awareness skills will be discussed, with a focus on interpersonal skill building, imparting information and healing. Classes will be held in both Annapolis and Baltimore.

Harbour Magic Summer Day Camp

Harbour Magic Summer Day Camp located at The Harbour School at Baltimore (Owings Mills) offers participants with autism and other learning challenges all of the wonderful activities of summer camp, while providing a small, safe environment to practice friendship and social skills.  The camp is open to the public. Activities include weekly swimming, fieldtrips, crafts, sports, cooking and games.  The camp staff is chosen from Harbour School staff and all have experience working with special populations. Camp will be held during July 2013. Contact Wendy Johnson at wjohnson@harbourschool.org for additional information.
